Instagram Adds New ‘People You Follow’ Filter for DMs

Instagram has added a new DM filter option for creators, which will enable you to filter your inbox to only messages from profiles that you follow in the app. As you can see in this example, the new “People you follow” option will enable you to prioritize DMs from only the profiles that you’ve chosen to follow, which could make it easier to prioritize personal connection. As explained by Instagram chief Adam Mosseri: “We’re adding a filter for people you follow because maybe you DM a lot of people you don’t follow yet, negotiating deals, figuring out collaborations. But sometimes you just want to focus the experience on people you know, in order to make the experience a bit safer and more positive.” So for people who get a lot of IG DMs, it could be a handy addition, helping to ensure ...

Step by Step Guide to Building a People HR Chatbot and Automate Workflows | by Avinash | Dec, 2022

According to a recent survey by PWC among 600 HR and HR information technology (IT) leaders on six continents, intelligent automation or process automation is the focus for 45% of the participants. With an ever-growing spend on HR technology, HR management seeks to automate human resources as much as possible so that the human resources staff are freed up so that they can attend to their jobs with greater efficiency. When basic HR tasks like onboarding, offboarding, etc., are automated, the whole HR department is enabled to shift from a supportive, administrative, and mainly operational department to a front-line, business-driven strategic department that can provide the agility a business needs to thrive in the future. There are many other benefits as well to businesses automating HR process...

Dealing with People Who Don’t Value Web Designers

If you spend a bit of time in the web design industry, you’ll undoubtedly run into someone who just doesn’t understand the value of what you do. What’s amazing is that, even in this high-tech world in which we live, there are still people who think that anyone can build a great website. Years ago, it seemed very common. As a young designer, I can remember a few co-workers (and even my boss) having no idea what I did. But in those days, web design was a fairly new concept in the mainstream. Thus, I never took their attitudes personally. It was likely a matter of people who didn’t quite “get” the internet just yet. But now technology is everywhere. People hold the entire web in their hands. And yet, we still run into those who think we’re all hipster rip-off artists. Years ago I had an encou...

Why People Don’t Respect Marketers & How to Elevate the Marketing Profession

As a marketer, you aren’t getting the respect you deserve. You are a hard worker that loves what you do. You have spent years learning an ever-evolving list of skills, testing and refining your craft as technology and society have chaotically shifted drastically. You help businesses to make more money, allowing them to hire more people, create better products, and build empires of sustainable revenue.  Even so, no one gets excited to see a marketer walk into the room. When the accountant walks into an office, managers are happy to throw their accounting work at them. When the lawyer arrives to ensure legal compliance, no one thinks twice about handing their contracts over. Even when a plumber arrives, no one questions how they fix the toilet, they’re just happy that the toilet i...

How to Design For People With Accessibility Needs

The people who use the web are not a homogeneous mass but rather a huge group with incredibly high diversity. Many of them are not native English, or highly educated city dwellers with excellent health conditions. When we design for the public we need to pay attention to this fact; otherwise, we miss out on many potential users, as well as a great possibility to boost the search engine rankings of a site. Universality and inclusivity are in the focus of the Accessibility web standards that are one of W3C’s web design related standards. The final goal of the Web Accessiblity Initiative (WAI) is to design a web that works “for all people, whatever their hardware, software, language, culture, location, or physical or mental ability”. When we think about accessibility the most important thing ...

How To Educate People On Your Software As A Service Product

As a software as a service (SaaS) business owner, you probably feel like your product is the best. And while that might really be the case, the key to success is being able to convince other people that it’s the best, too. Educating people on what you have to offer is the best way to do this. After all, most people aren’t willing to spend money on something they don’t understand.  In order to bring customers up to speed, you’re responsible for explaining how your product works and why it’s useful can be the secret ingredient your marketing strategy is missing.  The good news is that educating your customers doesn’t have to be difficult (or expensive). Let’s talk about things you can do to help people understand the benefits of using your software as a service product.  Have A Clear Underst...

Do Photos With People Perform Better on Instagram?

No matter how religiously you follow updates to the Instagram algorithm, getting your posts in front of people isn’t going to do you much good if they don’t actually like what they’re seeing. Social media is ultimately for people, not robots — which means getting true engagement requires appealing to what people like. We already know that visually beautiful or interesting content performs best here. (You’ve been trying out our tricks for taking and editing good Instagram photos, right?) But beyond composition or graphic design, is there a type of photo that people like more? Well, the hunch of many a social media manager is that pictures of people perform better than those without. (Sorry, landscape photogs.) But why rely on a gut instinct, when we have a whole special column here on the H...

They also have an audience larger than you may think—roughly half of all U.S. citizens 12+ listen to podcasts. And, most importantly for marketers and businessowners, more than half of podcast listeners say that they’re at least somewhat more likely to buy something after hearing the...

Can I Stop People From Adding Images to My Google My Business (GMB) Listing?

Posted Dec 14, 2020 by Yan Gilbert In most scenarios, businesses cannot block people from uploading photos to your GMB listing via the “upload to public” feature.  The one exception to this is if the business is getting slammed with tons of inappropriate photos from users due to a public media incident.  For example, the stone supplier referenced in this article had the ability to add a photo disabled after users uploaded tons of statues of genitalia after the social media scandal. If a public user has uploaded an image you would like it removed from your listing, and it also breaks a Google guideline, you will need to flag it to have removed. If flagging the pictures was unsuccessful after a few ...
