Meta Announces ‘Recurring Notifications’ for Business Messaging, a Significant Shift in its Platform Approach

This is an unusual switch up in Meta’s business messaging rules. This week, at its first-ever ‘Conversations’ messaging conference, Meta announced ‘Recurring Notifications’ on its Messenger Platform, which will enable businesses to send ‘proactive, automated messages, to people who have opted in to receiving them’. As you can see here, businesses will soon be able to send recurring notifications to users that opt in, with the upfront prompts outlining the frequency of messages that they’ll likely receive if they choose to get them. Businesses will be able to send sales notifications, updates, newsletters – pretty much whatever they like, with the frequency options ranging from daily to monthly, ‘so businesses can reach customers at any moment in their journey’. Which is pretty much the ...

Component approach for chatbot. It is rare that business doesn’t want… | by Sean Wu | Nov, 2021

It is rare that business doesn’t want to provide a 24x7 personalized services. But they rarely do. Why? It is easy to personalize content in graphical user interface (GUI), but it is generally impossible to personalize arbitrary services as user interaction design and implementation can get out of hand quickly. Hiring live agents is not option, as it is not scalable to operate. Chatbot has the potential to be the solution, but it is too expensive to build today. There are many reasons why it is expensive to build usable conversational user interface (CUI) to your services. Today let’s focus on a major one of these: the lack of component based framework. I will talk about what is the component driven development and why it is a good idea to adopt this methodology. And then we will cover the ...

Snapchat Outlines its Approach to Misinformation and How it’s Seeing Success in Combating its Spread

Snapchat has published a new overview of its ongoing efforts to combat the spread of misinformation in its app, which also provides some valuable insights into the variance between Snap and other platforms, and why it requires a unique, dedicated approach. While Facebook and Twitter work to contain false information, particularly around vaccine side effects amid the COVID-19 pandemic, Snapchat has largely remained out of the discussion around the same, with its alternative approach to social potentially outlining a framework to better manage news distribution in this respect. Essentially, Snapchat says that it's ultimately seeing success with its approach to misinformation and safety due to the app's design, which is focused on maintaining close connections, as opposed to broadcasting to...

CX Transformation with AI Chatbots is not a “One-Size-Fit All” Approach | by Haptik | Jul, 2021

Businesses now realize the need for a customer-centric approach to transforming their customer experience (CX). According to the Zendesk Customer Experience Trends Report 2021, 75 percent of company leaders agreed that the global pandemic accelerated the acquisition of new technologies to get customer-centricity right. But, there are challenges too. Some of the businesses don’t have the systems and technology to segment and profile customers. Some lack the processes and operational capabilities. Some of them don’t have all of the components in place to claim they are customer-centric.Few don’t know what their customers expect and how they want to interact with the business — not the products, features, or revenue model. However, in the digital-first world, social messaging is the dominating com...

Taking the Occam Razor Approach to Design

Did you know that designers can use a tool that mathematicians, philosophers, and other academics have known about for hundreds of years? It’s called Occam’s Razor, and it’s a law that states, essentially, that the simplest solution is usually the best or most correct. For example, if your client is late to a meeting, you would probably assume they got stuck in traffic. It’s a simpler and likelier explanation than, say, assuming they got temporarily abducted by aliens and had to fight through an endless maze of plant monsters to get to the meeting on time That’s a prime example of the kind of over-thinking that many designers are prone to. We’ll go over the importance of ditching the unnecessary when developing design concepts, and why it’s so hard to do in the first place. Not only will y...

A funnel-driven approach to Messenger bots for lead generation | by Livio Marcheschi

Before we go into the technicalities of how to improve the KPIs above, there is a main concept to keep in mind when creating and optimising a Messenger bot built for customer acquisition purposes:You need to create consistent ad-to-bot experiences. The ad and the bot needs to be conceived together, since there is no way you can start to improve the bot if the ad is not consistent with it. You would simply receive poor traffic that you will not be able to optimise for.We have learned this the hard way, when the first tests were not producing the expected results. And the first signal of it was a really low welcome message conversion rate (i.e. only a few people interacting with the Facebook ad started to engage with the bot).To understand the reasons why it was happening we did multiple UX t...
