Voice Assistants: The Profit, Accessibility, and Speed Trifecta for Modern Businesses

Amazon’s Alexa, Apple’s Siri, Microsoft’s Cortana, and Samsung’s Bixby are prime voice assistant examples (VAs), but the technology itself is no longer limited to megacorporations. Instead, these intelligent systems are increasingly being embraced at the enterprise level. This new wave of adoption is evident in recent statistics:In the US, there are about 146 million voice assistant users as of 2024, with projections indicating that this number will rise to 157.1 million by 2026. Fifty percent of U.S. consumers use voice search daily, and 67% across all age groups report being highly likely to rely on it when looking for information.Global Banking and Finance Review reported that 88% of global business leaders think VA technology has the potential to help grow their brand.According to the ...

Meta Shares ‘Threads Dictionary’ to Keep Users Up to Speed on the Latest App Lingo

So is a post on Threads called a ‘Thread’ or a ‘post’? And what about re-posts – are they ‘re-threads’? It’s all a bit up in the air at the moment, in the (very) early days of the new Twitter-esque app, but to help you with the latest lingo, the Threads team has shared a ‘Threads Dictionary’ to keep you up to speed. So, to clarify: Each discussion is called a thread – so you post a thread in the app A post is an individual element within a thread (though some people are also referring to this as ‘threading’ or ‘stitching’) A shared thread is called a repost – not a ‘re-thread’ or some other variation Sharing someone else’s post is a quote thread It’s all pretty straightforward, there’s no new language to learn, as such. But there is going to be some discussion around what the actual act o...

Twitter Adds New Video Playback Speed Controls, Flags Coming Video Updates

Twitter added new playback speed controls for videos in the app, another step in its video development roadmap which looks set to become an even bigger focus under incoming CEO Linda Yaccarino. Twitter’s already added longer video uploads for Blue subscribers, along with enhanced playback quality options. Now it’s also added playback speed controls to give users more control over how they manage their in-app video experience. As you can see in this example, posted by Musk’s friend and (seeming) advisor Jason Calacanis, you now have a range of playback speed options to choose from via the video player in app. For longer videos, that’s more important, especially with discussions and other clips that you may want to consume at a faster speed, while slower speed playback could be great for ...

How we help new team members get up to speed fast

By Kathleen Herrmann August 18, 2022 Have you ever started a new role and didn’t know where to start? At AWeber, we set you up for success from day one with our unique take on new team member onboarding. Ever start a new job, get handed a laptop, and then get sent on your way? You’re unsure of where to start, who to meet with, sitting around trying to find something to do to fill your time. That doesn’t quite scream “remarkable start to a new role,” if you ask me. At AWeber, we view onboarding a little differently than most. All new AWeber team members (regardless of their role) spend their first six days, yes six whole days, NOT doing their job. I know that might sound a little excessive — what could we possibly be covering for 6 days!? — but how can you possibly be asked t...

Quiz: The Super-Difficult Website Speed Quiz

Users expect websites to load quickly. As a result, companies like Amazon and Target spend millions of dollars optimizing their sites to make them load as fast as possible because there is a direct correlation between site speed and conversions. Websites typically don’t have load bars, so a user waiting for a site to load cannot know that it will be one more second or even that the site will load at all. The best load time for a website is 0 seconds, an instantaneous load. However, that’s not possible with current technology. So how fast is fast enough? What will users really accept? Take our website speed quiz and see if you know… Featured image via Unsplash.

WhatsApp Adds Option to Speed Up Voice Message Playback

Here's a quick one, which could come in handy for those who communicate via voice messages - and in particular, long voice messages. Today, WhatsApp has added new variable playback speed control options for audio replies. It's pretty straightforward - now, when you get a voice message, you can play it regular 1x speed, or you lean slightly more towards Chipmunk-style voices by cranking the playback to 1.5x, or even 2.0x regular speed. Which, as many have noted, alternative messaging app Telegram has actually enabled its users to do since 2018.  Telegram, and another messaging app, Signal, have both gained traction over the past few months due to WhatsApp's controversial privacy policy update, which will enable it to share some data from user transactions with businesses in WhatsApp acros...
