3 Essential Design Trends, October 2023

Today Every now and then, website design trends can leave you scratching your head. This month’s collection includes some of those. Even if they look good and follow some design principles, there’s a question about function or usability. These designs can sometimes surprise you and work amazingly, while other times, they simply fall flat. (You’ll have to be the judge here.) Here’s what’s trending in design this month: 1. Text Above the Hero Image This website design trend, featuring text above the hero image or video, can look a lot of different ways. In the examples below, you’ll see this range, from images that are still fully visible to those that sneak below the scroll. X Announces That its Shutting Down ‘Circles’ As of October 31st

RIP Circles, the latest feature to be shut down as part of the transition of the app into X. Which is no surprise. X owner Elon Musk has been talking about getting rid of Circles for months, so really, it was just a matter of time. But now the X team has set an official end date. As per X: “X is deprecating Circles as of Oct 31st, 2023. Given that an increasing amount of users are now interacting this w...

3 Essential Design Trends, October 2022

This month, it’s all about the images. Each of the design trends we spotted has to do with the images you select – or don’t select – for a project and how you use them. Here’s what’s trending in design this month. 1. Floating Images Sometimes you design off the grid intentionally. Other times you are designing on a grid that’s maybe not-so-obvious. One of these things is happening with the floating images website design trend. Here, you’ll see images and image containers that don’t seem to have any direction with their placements. They may or may not include animation, that further emphasizes the floating effect. Floating images can include: Cutouts that aren’t anchored to anything or any container Images that are scattered on the canvas Images in oddball placements that don’t seem to serv...
